Wonderful findings (screenshots) as always!
I was impressed the most by those three in the bottom of the first set (gangsters shoting Salieri) and "frozen Golem"...
How did you do that? Incredible situations!

Yeah that Salieri moment was a classic. I attacked Morello & his men and made 'em chase me to Salieri. But they followed very quickly, usually it takes them a while to catch up. This time they were right behind me and I wasn't even aware of it until it was too late! Sal' got out of the green Lassiter and I clicked on him to "follow me" but Tommy said "wait here" instead and I'd hopped in the driver seat straight away. Next thing I knew they were standing right next to him, but they hadn't attacked so I grabbed some screenshots, a moment later they all dropped to one knee and filled the Don with lead. I wasn't going to get out of the car and meet the same fate (I knew the mission was over) so I just did a kamikaze and jump-car'd into the wall, needless to say I survived the collision and when I did climb out of the wreckage I met the same fate. :hang:

Frozen Golem, in the shots you can see that he killed me twice before I killed him. Golem is Machiavellian! Typically he will either superspeed run at you, or do that creepy prowling thing. That still gives me the creeps. This time he was walking normally, no weapon in his hands. He followed me for a while but didn't attack. I wanted to see how close I could get to him before he pulled out a gun? Not very close! He was the quicker draw. The second time I didn't even see who shot me!! Third encounter and I wasn't taking any chances (stalemate at the corner of the building). I made him follow me into traffic (ground tram, cars) and I snuck around behind him. I shot him in the back (it was only fair that he die not knowing who shot him) but his death was weird, kinda' like a MAFIA mission animation? I mean the character animation seemed like something we've seen in a "cut scene." It was long and drawn out, almost like he was choking? And it took a while for him to finally fall to the ground. It was like a bad actor doing a miserable job of dieing. I played on for about 30 minutes, killed snipers, hired Vincenzo, drove to Hoboken, when I returned to Little Italy that's when I saw him there like that. I've never seen anything like it either. :shok:

Any new discoveries I should know about? I'll have to do some reading with Babelfish, but I still haven't figured out that parked taxi in City Night? And I don't know what happens when the screen goes black sometimes? Anyone in the Russian speaking community figured that one out yet?

LOL Mitos! :lol: At first I didn't realise what that other image (the circle) was, but when I finally did I had a big laugh. :rofl:

MAFIA 2 is looking awesome ay? I can't wait! :dirol:

Doppelganger, Dollyman, Little Paulie. I've never seen the Dollyman carjack a gangster before. Come to think of it... I've never seen Dollyman carjack anyone. (practicing his corrupt policeman techniques)

My favourite tactic right now is to plant the Dragon toy and the Doghead. Shoot Dollyman (so he attacks) and then randomly shoot cops and gangsters and draw them to the Superweapons, then use the Doppelganger to blow EVERYONE UP (including Little Paulie) LOL.

Golem vs. Lady in Red... Ralph killed Golem and then he killed the Lady in Red. I actually captured around 2000 screenshots (yes I know I'm nuts) but these were my favourites. If you want to see some more of a particular scene all you need do is ask.

This was interesting too! The Lady in Red stole a car to chase me, but the Gangster (BG from under the bridge) got in as well riding "shotgun". I've never seen that before either. I've also never seen the Super Priest steal a car, at least I don't remember ever seeing that happen. He has Superspeed so why would he want to drive an automobile? Some lamer Doppelganger shots.

Random shenanigans, Golem, Vincenzo.

I read some of the threads in the Russian speaking forum yesterday. Unfortunately Babelfish isn't the best translating tool. The grammar is often incorrect. There were some things I didn't know (e.g. some climbable buildings). I liked some of the wackier screenshots (e.g. using the Doggy toy in the Central island tunnel, then running up to the park to see the Lassiter Detective gang swimming, hehe) inventive!

He's "undead" Gerasim, technically he's dead (come back to life) MUWAHAHAHA! Alive Mod Frankenstein! :crazy:

This has been a feature of the Alive Mod since about version 5.0 or 6.0 right MikeMouse? On my website, under Superweapons/Doghead it's mentioned:

"sometimes they might continue to attack you even if they are on fire and their skin is now the skin of the burned model. You will need to shoot these guys dead as they are now zombie undead..."

We gave this guy a nickname once but I've forgotten what we called him? Zombie cop maybe? MikeMouse might remember?

It's extremely rare to experience him, I've encountered him 4 times in about 6 years, but I remember the first time very clearly, it was City Day near the football oval in Hoboken, shared in my earliest screenshots over @ LH-MS.

It's practically impossible to kill him, you can shoot him many times and he won't die.

Unfortunately these screenshots contradict that because he became the default "T-posture" model. Normally he doesn't. In fact!!! Sometimes he will change back into a cop! When that happens you can kill him again.

I saved in City Day, followed your instructions (steps 1-5) and yes your new "trailing camera" function works perfectly, BTW it's a totally awesome new Alive Mod addition Mike! Really great! :yahoo:

But... when I save in City Night and then load Freeride Extreme (Home), the save game starts my FRE save, not City Night. If I die (in City Night) the save starts in City Night at the phone booth correctly.

Also the true test with City Night saving will be "after" the Morello mission, that's when the problem always occurs, not when I use Doppelganger. I'll let you know when I can.

Something I never knew about saving however... when you save (and Tommy speaks) the character model's mouth and lips move (see pics).

I know it's early testing stage (not even beta) so it's not complete and you haven't considered other AM functions, but these are my initial discoveries...

The camera bumps into objects (light poles, cars, pedestrians, ground tram, trees etc.) Occasionally it will get stuck for a moment, but it corrects itself eventually and catches up to player. One time it got stuck in front of a gangster car and did not correct itself, I had to run around to move it, however by then the player was very far away (near horizon).

I think the speed the camera follows is good, sometimes it could be quicker but this speed gives you ample time to set up battle scenarios.

When Doppelganger is initiated, if you don't move the Doppelganger away from you, he will blow up next to you and kill you. (I realise you haven't began to code this yet) Also, when I planted the Doghead in the tunnel, the Doghead started burning and the camera appeared at the restaurant near the beach (see first 3 screenshots). :draznilka:

Running up building steps (to climb onto buildings) is tricky because the camera stays below (on the ground - bumped into building wall and stops) and if you move player over roof you don't know where he is and must start again, unless you fall off other side and land safely... but you can get some excellent superspeed jump pics.

How long have you been developing this idea Mike? Last year 18/06/2008 I experienced exactly this :shok: Tommy running off into distance while camera stayed behind, see below:

It happened when the car I was driving landed on its roof and Tommy had to crawl out on his belly. I mentioned this to you then, it's probably somewhere here in the forum but you never commented on it. Was it happenstance, nothing to do with your coding? Or were you already playing around with the idea back then? :mafia:

IMO Mike, this is one of your best creations! Aside from being LOTS of fun, and forcing us to learn to play differently (avoiding enemies is complicated LOL avoiding traffic can be in itself challenging too when Tommy's in the distance) but you're right, we will be able to capture some AMAZING screenshots and video. I can't even begin to appreciate the many new possibilities. I love this new feature, you know I like capturing interesting angles and showing the Alive Mod like a comic-book story, this is PERFECT for that! :dirol:

I will test more, I tried many things, haven't shown them in these screens because they weren't the best, but this changes everything! :yahoo:

Mitos, all we need to do is add some "pins" to his head :jokingly:

Nice screenshots!!! I like the most that one where Tommy is climbing by a wall.

I told you SOULTAKER that your version it's just rough alpha version, so there is such strange "control", bugs and glitches.
Now I have more advanced beta version. I developed this camera scripts at the last Sunday from idea to the current beta.
Actually I've tried to play some camera tricks, remember my video with truck journey?
I know you hate Youtube but just in case here is my mew video from yesterday, it shows some new camera tricks with the last version of the camera scripts.

I have to check up the situation with Extreme saves, maybe I missed something in your version... it was just alpha version, not tested yet... I'll check it up...
