Incidentally I spoke with my Czechoslovakian friend and asked him how to write the word 'casino' in Slav... exactly the same "casino". We're all gobsmacked by the recent developments (cheat codes) and my advice would be to type casino during the standard MAFIA missions, to see if anything happens? Of course try in FR and FRE also. :draznilka:

If you're really keen check through my old posts. Many times I played Alive Mod and noticed the screen go black. We never found out what this meant, and it wasn't any of the known new secrets, so something else happened... what? I don't know...? :bomb:

Someone mentioned to me that it's impossible to type the word "casino" because by default the letter "I" is assigned to the Inventory function, yes I know this, so... simply change that letter to something else and type the word that way, brilliant eh? :pardon:

My favourite "car" to drive (at present) is the Bulldozer found at the construction site in Hoboken. It's physics take some getting used to, "AND" the camera works differently with it than with the other cars, you'll see what I mean... you'll find that you often have to 'correct' the camera to point straight ahead (with the camera key C) but you can capture unique angles, e.g. front.

Mike I'm still experiencing problems with the City-Night Morello mission. After I completed the mission I drove from Countryside Night (via Chinatown near Winslet Avenue exit) to switch back to Countryside Day, I was driving the sports Toyota from Countryside, and guess what? The game crashed and MAFIA shut down. This is not a new bug. Do you think it's because I'm using MAFIA version 1.0? What version do you play? v1.2?

The first 3 screenshots show what I was doing at the time when the screen went dark. All cops had been alerted and I shot the police road block (on the east end of the West Marshall bridge, near Central island) with the BM4WD gun turret. After all of the cops were killed the screen went black and Tommy said "good job", so Mike, search for the string 'good job' spoken by Tommy, this will be the clue.

The rest of the screenshots are just random leftovers. Note the Morello mission did not fail this time, Hallelujah! I think it was because I saved "after" I killed Golem?

One other thing about the infamous Morello mission Mike, Salieri will only "wait here", when you click on him again Tommy does not say "follow me"...

Yes! I think Mafia 1.1 and higher will work more stable BUT the gun turret won't work with any game version but 1.0...
It's because I use myself version 1.0 and scripts have been developed in a view of this version (so I could test scripts).

Yes! It's because Saliery has a different logic of behaviour (strange nature) from other actors...
He is a very stubborn man and he won't wait when Tommy say him "follow me"...
Instead of waiting Tommy's command Saliery starts to "follow" when Tommy gets too close to him, approx. 8 meters...

For some unknown reason (?) this thumbnail and its image won't load properly. And for many days...? Maybe ImageShack were experiencing technical difficulties? I've always taken the easy route and played 'your' savegames MikeMouse, every now and then one of mine but they eventually became corrupted, so... I finally decided to create a new profile "50UL74K32" and start from the beginning. Making the $10,000,000 that's required to stop paying city taxes took serious gaming (I wanna' take this opportunity to thank the Alive Mod creator for the Morello mission hehe). City taxes is easily one of the best concepts you've ever come up, truly brilliant 'forcing' players to think and play. Took me around 3 hours and I definitely wasn't as economical with the time as I could've/should've been. It places enormous pressure on you to "get better," "go faster," "don't make mistakes." Great!

It got me thinking of a another way to 'one-up' and test players, "by killing them!" Making them lose one point of health every second and one-hundred-and-ninety-nine seconds later they die. A legitimate reason would be, they have a deadly virus, or drank poison. Unless they plant superweapons or kill enemies etc. they're dead in 3 minutes and 19 seconds. But that'd be extreme pressure, lol.

I think I've only ever killed the Terrorist (using the new superweapon Bombing Raid) "once," we'd have to go back and check my previous screenshots, maybe I've never killed him using the plane? Honestly I don't recall, but I got him trapped well in the parking lot in Hoboken, the Green Lassiter gang were also there for a bonus. As luck would have it the first bombing run destroyed the gang but not the seemingly indestructible Terrorist. And it was all set up so nicely. I think it was because the superweapon was placed on "higher ground?" You know how you can survive his explosions if you're higher (or lower) than he is when he blows himself up. Anyway, got him in the end and it felt good.

Admittedly these screenshots look like stuff I've already posted a hundred times before (nothing new) but I took 'em while playing my first game for 2010, and under my new profile so I figured, share!

The Truck situation was funny, the gangster in the back was busy with the Priest (who was trying to kill me for my 10 mil) and the labourer was battling with the gangster bodyguard up front, all of a sudden the Terrorist is standing ahead of the truck, just staring, the labourer runs over to him and KABOOM! The truck was at a standstill but the blast knocked us back (40 miles an hour) check the speedo.

The 4th screenshot is an example of the Terrorist blowing up 'lower than Tommy' and our hero avoiding death. The Morello mission is scattered all throughout these.

Incredibly he survived and if you look at the ground fires, they're in line with him so he was very lucky. Next time he wasn't though.

I've been playing Wolfenstein 2009 but it was fun coming back to my MAFIA (Alive Mod) roots. Can't wait for MAFIA 2!

I'll still play the Alive Mod even when I'm a hundred! :hunter: It's eternal. I read the thread about adding the Cameraman script in other missions. I'd like to try it in Port and Dirty Street Races next. :vinsent: And nice to speak with you too Mike, been too long. :drinks:

I haven't shared anything in ages so it's time to do so. Inspired by the threads in the Russian forum (déjá vu) and the innovate new ways players have been experimenting with the MAFIA game engine, and the Alive Mod.

Ahhh memory lane (I know, memory lane can be so soppy) "but I remember when..." mumble, mumble, mumble, hehe, I used the red Volkswagen Buggy to Car Jump up onto the building rooftops in the Hoboken construction site! I was never able to reproduce it again. Then I read the Russian thread about the Crazy Horse.

Crazy Horse can jump very high! (and in my opinion the red Volkswagen buggy once jumped like this too.) I've taken the time to learn how to drive it and it's very effective and satisfying. Landing back down on the ground usually ends with the car laying on its side, but you can correct it (sometimes) by reversing the engine as it's bouncing. Another good thing about it is that it (sometimes) lands in the "rocket launch" position, so its ready to take off again.

Screenshots always go from left to right, then down.

Familiar rooftop, seen plenty times, but I was surprised at how easily the Crazy Horse got up there! No I never made it across the river ;-) Between the beach car park and Tommy's house. Under the elevated train tracks between the Twister and the Palermo club. Caught on a ledge. Over Morello mission with a bad landing.

Works Quarter, Theatre - you can see by the way the Crazy Horse is positioned it can launch back out (of a clipped area) without difficulty. Church, Downtown and Hoboken construction site. Too easy!

First screenshot shows that it's possible to jump "up onto the elevated freeway" from the street below (under the freeway). I was chased by cops, did a wheelie and car jumped up. Easy to repeat, provided you get a wheelie happening. The area behind Bertone's auto service, that shot is Tommy climbing back into the car (not getting out) it was in the perfect position to jump back up onto the Guiliano bridge, which I did. Morello mission again with Vincenzo & reward luxury car, Dollyman. CHEATING AI! They can defy God's invisible barrier! ;-D Truck stuck at the beach, Terrorist showing up & mysterious black screen... Whoooo

More Morello mission, Police "gangster" Lassiter. Vincenzo shooting at Tommy? Nah... he's shooting at a Dollyman clone behind Tom. I like the way that reward car disintegrates when you RAM it full bore into an immovable object (nothing like the alleged plane that allegedly hit the Pentagon). Vincenzo and Super Priest Bodyguards, City Night. Can you guess where Tommy is in the last screenshot? Hint: It's not Salieri's secret cesspool with the encrypted note floating in the corner that gives directions to the secret casino in the Countryside! Or is it...?

I managed to land on a tall building (in a single bound WOW) in the "launch position" which makes it ideal to launch up even higher (into the invisible ceiling God uses to separate the monkeys from Heaven.)

I asked this question many times and never got a straight answer: In City Night, what does Morello's taxi (in Little Italy) do? I could never get that thing to go. I tried whistling, getting in, is it supposed to drive around our bodyguards (Vincenzo & Super Priest) ?

Still get the black screens (with weird dialogue) regularly... and still, no one knows what it is, right?

Rooftop near Morello mission. Truck mission, Terrorist, Bodyguards turned enemies. Tommy's model textures disappeared (except for Super Speed flames) this is not the invisible man model, I could still use Tommy but he was "really invisible" err. um except for the flames thingy. Countryside Day, Good Priest, Bad Priest. Check out the sum total of that Health! Don't make the silly mistake of turning off Super Powers (like I did) because you drop back down to 199. Cameraman... City Night, Super Priest Bodyguard. The sniper shot and killed me in the next moment, I didn't see him.

2nd mode "Transparency" for the Flying Car (Mutagen 4WD) driving through Morello's hitmen... And Black Metal 4WD Gun Turret! Best Alive Mod function ever! (well, better to say one of many) for the pure enjoyment this canon brings alone, it's worth staying with Mafia version 1.0

Black screen happened when a cop car and a detective Lassiter crashed into the water near the quay (next to Paddleboat mission on Central island) they tried to force me off the road, I pushed back and they went torpedoing to their watery graves. I think it's safe to say that this mysterious black screen thingy typically happens when "cops are killed." What that means...? Or if it does anything in the game, is yet to be determined.

That's the most number of vehicles I've ever destroyed with the gun turret. I didn't count them but there were a lot!

The one time I choose not to have Fraps running I got the craziest game ever! Really unique behaviour, ULTRA violent... So I fire up Fraps to try and reproduce it again and forget about it! I played the Truck mission twenty five times in a row... "25" and I wasn't able to duplicate the chaos, not once. What a colossal let down... :cray:

Moral of the story: Always have Fraps running :mafia:

Nice screenshots and stories!

Just in case if you need to load Fraps while Mafia is running then you can try Alt+Tab (a few times) in order to switch active program windows. Load Fraps and switch to Mafia window again.

More Truck mission... I'm determined to recapture the craziness from the other day, still haven't been able to yet...

I thought I'd be safe from the Terrorist on that elevated hill (under the Face Cave) but he jumped straight up and chased me!

In the past I complained about some things, crashes, player stuck under the ground at Hoboken construction site, Morello mission saves, stuff like that. On my new gaming machine (well not so new anymore) but the AME works flawlessly. Also noticed the Truck works very well correcting itself, and when Tommy gets out, he can get back in if he re-clicks the Labourer again and continue the mission.
