The gun turret is SO MUCH FUN!!! Illusion Softworks blew it big time when they didn't finish it off. I love Mafia, and I can appreciate I.S. for creating such a timeless truly fantastic game, but hey they suck when it comes to replying to emails (I sent at least one hundred to them, never once a reply) and communicating with a community (lostheaven.co.uk) that practically worshipped them, until they realised they were, false gods. Game developers need to learn a valuable lesson, if they don't want disgruntled "ex" fans, then once in a while they need to look as of they're slightly interested. :roll:

I'm getting side-tracked, but I know their devs will be reading this. :twisted:

OK so the BM4WD's gun turret rules hands down. A cool trick with it is to position the front of the BM4WD up against the front of a car, e.g. a cop car that's trying to arrest you. As the cops exit the vehicle, fire! KABOOM! Their car will go flying and they'll still be trying to close the doors that they were holding a moment ago. Then use the jumping-car function to make some distance between you and them and watch them trying to find their car, lol! I've seen the game "cheat" so-to-speak and re-spawn a new cop car out of the blue, hmmm, police corruption is everywhere!

I also noticed the "bouncing grenade" can produce some spectacular effects when used imaginatively, like shoot under a vehicle and hit the one behind (at the detonation distance). Rebound (bounce) off walls like a ball and explode at a totally different trajectory. And explode mid-air when shot from an incline or a slope or angle (see screenshot on Guiliano bridge). You just gotta' get creative with it, try different things.

Here's an idea... set-up a scenario whereby an enemy vehicle (can be any type) is forced over a super ramp, say over the Terranova bridge. Try to knock it out of the sky with the BM4WD's gun turret. If someone manages to do this please share your screenshots or movie.

My favourite past time lately is to place a super Molotov cocktail in front of the Terranova bridge super ramp, say about 2 car lengths ahead so that a car will catch on fire before it hits the ramp. The explosions in the sky are AWESOME! Some fall over the bridge. Give it a go, it's a lot of fun.

I'm really into trying new things with superweapon combinations. It's crucial to try these things in idyllic locations, e.g. not out in the open, but in confined spaces or small areas. In open spaces I've found that one superweapon will override another, however in restricted areas they tend to "blend", and blending produces beautiful results.

In this case the Doggy Toy sucks both the enemy and Little Paulie (from Dragon Toy) up into the sky. The UFO throws the Buick but because Lil' Paulie's already carjacking the gangster, he gets left behind, and this all happens 30 feet in the air!

After Lil' Paulie threw him he fell back down to terra-firma, that's a LONG way to fall for such a little man, hehe.

BTW that locations, entrance to Sal's restaurant car park is perfect for combo-testing.

This was GREAT! Total anarchy!! There's many more pics to this sequence, before and after, which I haven't included here, you can see more of them in the gallery.

I stayed inside the BM4WD for protection from the bullets and used the camera-view to see everything. You can get some cool screenshots by using the camera-view to look down onto the situation from above. I added descriptions to the image so I don't need to say much here. But I will add, there's a super Molotov cocktail there too, and the UFO threw burning cars. Plus this was where I got the idea of trying to turn a cop into a dog then beam him up into the spaceship. That produced something really amazing!!! It's not in this particular image, however I have 2 sets with the desired result. Cop turned into a dog, got lifted up into the air and remained a dog running around in the sky. Will upload them some other time.

Ciao for now... depending on the response I get from posting these, I may get involved "frequently" here, or just "occasionally".

Just some info. on this:

Let's start with the top left "area", some hair-raising stunts with the "Small-Time Criminals" Lassiter gang. I swear, even if they're no more powerful than the other "types" of Lassiter gangs, these guys are the ones I have most problems with. They never do what you expect 'em to do, and they hold the record for killing me, err. Tommy. Even with 7 bodyguards working for me, I've tried to sneak up on one of these guys from behind (while they're shooting it out with those 7 bodyguards) and they'll suddenly turn around and focus on you... budda, budda, budda, budda, you're dead!

Look we all know one well-placed shotgun blast will kill one of these guys instantly, but where's the fun in that? I like to tease them, make 'em take bullets from a variety of directions. Yeah sadistic and not always a smart move. Look at how close the ends of those Tommy gun barrels are to one another, somebody sneezes and everybody dies!!!

See the screenshot to the right of Golem, the one in Countryside day. Have a look at the health points. That's 1069! No trainer involved!! Just stay next to the "good priest" and you'll clock the meter. With that much health you can afford to lose 500 in a gun battle and still come out on top.

Left of Golem, placed a doghead just before the incline to the elevated railway platform, then shoot down at cops and gangsters. This screenshot is from AM v10.0 I think? Before cops got turned into dogs. But you can still get the same effect with a gangster.

When the terrorist is "this close" death is all that awaits you. Some facts about the terrorist... your bodyguards "can" kill him, but it'll take a lot of their bullets! You can kill him so his body stays behind as does his dynamite (only an illusion) lure him into the middle of a road with tram tracks. Draw him toward you then run (at superspeed) further along the tram tracks, make a tram run him, he'll die but not explode, you can steal his dynamite (but not use it). Also use him to your advantage, remember it's easy to kill him, one shot, bang, it's all over, but killing him in a way so that it takes out a large number of your enemy, is art! Lure him past a police roadblock!!! Beware the Lost Heaven terrorist, he’s coming for YOU!!!

That little guy on fire near the car wheel is Little Paulie! Confined space, doghead, multiple enemies... sometimes your bodyguards and Lil' Paulie will catch on fire.

Golem... that guy gives me the creeps! That screenshot was actually numbered 666, no bullsh*t! What really creeps me out about Golem is the way he sneaks around when you're crouched down; stalking you, playing on your psyche, getting into your head. He knows you can see him coming toward you, but he still comes at you in this very disturbing way, like he wants to spook you. If you haven't seen him "creep", lure him up to those lanes in China town (where you sometimes find the Silver Fletcher gang). It's a great place to see it happen because he hugs the walls as he does it (not physically hugs them but stays close to them) added further to this guys creepiness, he's got superspeed! Super-Creepy!!!

The pic to the left of the burning guy on the incline to the elevated train platform... would you believe me if I told you that I wasn't armed, so as not to attract any "unnecessary attention" lol! And one of those cops actually managed to arrest me because I fumbled trying to choose a gun and dropped it (hit backspace accidentally). A monkey would've done better! But it's a nice capture of all the bodyguards in action, the super Priest was also hired but he's out of the shot. I have the entire sequence as the detectives cars show up and they all get out and begin shooting. You can tell this too is an old screenshot because cops don't drive detective Lassiter's anymore.

Doppelganger, an absolutely genius invention, where the hell are all the stories and screenshots? That has to be one of the most enjoyable "tools" for killing the enemy!!

Top right corner "area" 7 Bodyguards... it's almost sad watching the enemy die when you're this well armed. Cops and gangsters don't have a chance! But Lassiter gangs do, hehe.

Hoboken bridge "area". Nice place to watch the AM action. That intersection is the perfect location to place superweapons, in particular Doggy toy, Super Molotov and Dragon toy!!!

Check out the Dragon toy image to the left of the Alien alchemist... Big cop little cop, hehe.

The bright orange image on the right is what happens when you're placing a Super Russian landmine and an enemy (cop in this case) shows up... be sure to make sure there are no enemies near you or you're ashes...

Conclusion:

If you haven’t tried MikeMouse’s Alive Mod v16.0 then you’re really missing out on a lot of fun. Anybody that says any different doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I always have Mafia installed on my computer just so that I can play the AM. I love Mafia, always will, but I.S. left us hanging about waiting for nothing, not even an expansion pack! IMHO the AM fills that gap stunningly, while we maintain hope I.S. will make good on their promise one day.

In all probability “all the possibilities” of this mod will never be documented. Even the slightest variation in distance, location, timing; produces something totally different from the norm, from what you are used to seeing. And I'm using a relatively slow computer compared to the faster generation that's standard now. If your PC can handle it, combine the superweapons and activate VIP's!!! The result will be breathtaking!!!

Three years later I’m still having fun with AM, always finding new things to do, and no matter how "hardcore" you "think" you are... one mistake, one miscalculation and it's Sayonara!

Mike called it “alive” because it lives and breathes on its own. Because of it’s unpredictability, its randomness. Mafia is the body, but Alive Mod is the soul!

xxx links? :shock: Really? :( You sure you don't have malware or spyware on your machine? I'm a member of several forums, a lot of people (from all around the world use ImageShack) and never once have I heard this complaint. :( The only thing that happens "sometimes" is a server goes offline and you can't access the image, but it's usually only for a few hours and then everything goes back to normal.

Well I'm sorry to hear this but I'm going to continue using ImageShack because I like their service. :wink: Mike you're welcome to upload these (as you've done) but I'm still going to offer thumbnails as well, OK? :D

OK so from my previous posts you should now know how to produce SCE's (Superweapon Combo Effects). For this set-up I tried various combinations of the Doggy Toy, Super Molotov Cocktail, Doghead and of course the Dragon Toy.

Starts off with the usual mayhem, Molotov sets the police car on fire but gives it enough time to move closer to the Dragon Toy (Lil' Paulie) and then KABOOM! Now because the enemy (cops) were dead the Doggy Toy lifted Lil' Paulie up into the air but let him go when the aliens realised he's a good fella', that's the story I'm going with here, OK? Hehe ;-)

Gangster Buick rolls up and Paulie takes care of them.

I repositioned the Doggy Toy to lift enemy cars before they got into the lane, as shown.

First 2 screenshots show the transformation from gangster to dog. The gangster beamed up toward the spaceship, stopped midway, changed into a dog then ran around in the sky. The dog sat down, started scratching itself behind the ears, then got up and round around again. I suppose I should have tried to make it follow me away from Sal's garage but I was taken back when I saw this and didn't think of it at the time. Obviously I had to put it down because it might've been hit by a low-flying plane. :lol: RIP Scooby. :wink:

I have a list somewhere, might be posted at MM? Which documented 22 different combo behaviours. I'll locate the info. and update it here.

The last 3 screenshots were interesting because the gangsters were shooting at me as their car was being thrown. There was an explosion in the sky, then one on the ground. This 3 image sequence is not connected to the previous "dog incident" I just needed to fill in some space. :roll:

Both Golem and the Super Body Guard "Priest" possess superspeed. Make them chase you and run over things, gutters, debris from explosions, a car wheel, steps etc. because they have superspeed sometimes they run too fast and when they hit one of these objects they can become airborne, very funny. BTW Tommy is not immune to it, he too will fly away like a pigeon. :shock: :lol:

The Dogheaded person... I think this happens when Mafia is overworked? Very rare to see this. Same with the floating policeman in the menu screen. I got this after killing about 50 to 100 police consecutively, don't kill any other enemy, ONLY police! But may not work every time??? The Chinese woman was burned into the ground after a super bomb exploded. The burned civilian (from doghead) started walking normally, then suddenly attacked me? WTF?! Crazy burned civilian lunatic! Detective body guard shooting backwards...

Mike these are a gift for you buddy. A special surprise that's completely EXCLUSIVE to webgamer.ru!!! :wink:

I have one of the BEST savegame's imaginable! Both Detective Body Guards plus the Priest Super Body Guard are hired. The game is saved in Little Italy, at the phone booth closest to Salieri's Restaurant, with the Russian Landmines. The Silver Fletcher Lassiter Gang is on the corner of China Town, and the Terrorist is "not far away" (hehe). :shock:

My "ordinary routine" for getting these shots is as follows... I run to the "secret phone booth" which calls Golem. While Golem is "on the way" I quickly run to the closest Ciao Paulie (dual booth with Doggy Toy as well) and hire Little Paulie!!!

The Priest is always right behind you and the Detective Body Guard's eventually catch up. I place "Green" at the entrance to that car park above that park area (see images). By the time I run up to China Town (top of the hill) to engage the Silver Fletcher Gang, Golem usually shows up, then I run back down to Lil' Paulie and wait, a couple of seconds, the Silver Fletcher Gang will come flying down the hill! (man those chicks are crazy!)

The Terrorist is about 1 minute away (2 maximum depending on the traffic and if the Trams are on time? Lol!) You don't get a warning, the 4 minutes are already up so be on the lookout!!! He's comin' to getchya! As your Body Guard's and Lil' Paulie fight with Golem and the Silver Fletcher Gang, the Terrorist joins in... this is without a DOUBT the wildest savegame I've ever captured! 8)

Please take some time to study these pics closely, they're a true showcase of what the Alive Mod is all about. You got Lil' Paulie shrinking the women (he's a pervert too! steals their clothes!) The 3 Body Guard's take on Golem, the Terrorist and the Silver Fletcher Gang simultaneously, pure anarchy!!! :D

If I upload the SaveGame here, for the members, will Golem still be able to be called from the phone booth? Or will he need to be "reset" (cross the city limits?). My savegame starts at the booth, players will need to call Golem, grab the Dragon Toy, engage the Silver Fletcher Gang, and wait for the Terrorist, I just don't know if Golem needs to be reset? (if he does the savegame would be ruined...) :(

Very Important Person is in the H-O-U-S-E! VIP on! Let's go... the first time I tried this, I over amplified the special effects (changed the camera view in the micro-car 3 times) but that's WAY TOO MUCH!!! See last collage for example of "overdoing it".

Best level of VIP effect (IMO) is just once, maybe twice if you want to capture BIG explosions from a mile away. But anything higher will make Tommy get X-Ray vision so powerful he can look into the ground! This ruins the experience (and fun) because half the screen disappears and goes brown.

1st collage: Used Doghead instead of Little Paulie this time. Screenshots # 5 to 8 is the Terrorist exploding. Screenshot # 27 Creepy Golem creeping along. The rest is pretty easy to follow.

2nd collage: I just really dig that Priest's fire trail. Run through traffic doing zig-zags and watch the Priest become a "fire-artist".

3rd and 4th collages: Hailey's comet? No, just the Super Molotov Cocktail on Terranova bridge! Placed just before the Active Ramp. Every car explodes differently. (Try using the Doghead/Doggy Toy combo with VIP on, it looks awesome!)

5th collage: Super "Russian" Landmines near the Lighthouse. Regrettably I didn't have the Mosin Nagant sniper rifle with me, it would make for much more interesting images, shooting from a lot farther away. Killing the Terrorist near the Guiliano bridge. Doghead on some pigs (I mean police officers) and a gangster. Countryside Night VIP (surprisingly there is zero lag, very fast, Mike's original savegame's settings are perfect!). City Night/Salieri's Bar.

6th collage: Monkey business on Salieri's rooftop, don't ya' just love throwing things at moving cars... The Suicide Mission... bulrushing the Morello meeting, forget about it! Actually that was a glorious death, bloody and violent, but totally ineffective, lol! Terrorist's explosion flipped the Silver Fletcher. Golem, Terrorist, Priest, Silver Fletcher gang, and some more Climbable Buildings (using Superspeed to scale the walls).

7th collage: Little Paulie carjacking gang, gang catching on fire because of Doghead. Terrorist shows up. Look at the pig (I mean policeman) in the air, very frightened! Priest and Lil' Paulie are shooting at Golem, too bad for the Detective Body Guard who happens to be in their line of fire. (CoW) Casualty of War...

8th collage: Doghead (ring side seat). This is what I meant about turning up the VIP too much!!! Get a load of the thick black smoke coming out of the truck, this will cause a little bit of lag, hehe. The reason half the screen is one colour is because of Tommy's X-Ray vision. Anything you walk close to, Tommy can see through, e.g. Lassiter Detectives sitting in their vehicle. That light-grey bluish smoke is exhaust fumes from the traffic. Look at the size of the blood splatter on the whore when she gets shot!! And more X-Ray vision, looking into Silver Fletcher and up women's dresses... hey if you had X-Ray vision wouldn't you use it for something educational like biology? Just some random shots to end the show.

The 6 collages (in my post before this one) contained 180 shots. That gaming session I captured 647 screenshots! In this one, I captured 746!!! It's time-consuming making these (and very sad when you get no feedback for your effort, even though you get plenty of views) so when I can I'll resize the lot, .rar them and upload them to webgamer, but don't expect that anytime soon.

Yes,really great screens! I especially like about effects. Don't worry about hosting,I clean my machine and now everythink is normal. Thank you that you choose our forum!
